Russian guide in Venice: a great expert and a nice girl

Of all the guides I have ever met, Katya, the guide to Venice, made the most powerful first impression. Having written to her about my interest in an individual tour of Venice, I was very surprised when I saw the answer in the mail after 30 minutes. And this despite the fact that he himself sent her a letter at about 10 pm. “Wow,” I thought, “let's see how it goes on.” My train arrived in Venice in an hour ...

In general, I did not plan a visit to Venice, and even thought this time around the city. But, since BlogoItaliano went on a wave of reviews of excursions in Italy, I decided to make a detour and search guide in Venice, which could be recommended to readers.

Venice is located on the mainland and 118 islands of the lagoon of the Adriatic

Unlike other guides, acquaintance with which was tied up on someone's recommendation, I found Katya on my own. Having sent 5 letters to different guides, I waited, but the answer, as often happens, came only one. And, as subsequent events showed, I was very lucky that Katya answered exactly.

Russian guide to Venice and not only

Katya turned out to be a pleasant young woman, a Muscovite, who married an Italian. Tired of being torn between Italy and Russia, she eventually moved to her husband to Sicily, and when he was transferred to work from Venice, she followed him.

When I later told her that I was very impressed with the speed of her response, Katya laughed: “It’s a Moscow habit. It teaches you to appreciate the rhythm of life every minute, and I understand how much a person depends on speed. I myself and I really appreciate this quality in others. But here in Italy everything is different. They are somehow more relaxed. "

“So you always say that?”

- Almost - she thought for a second. “Unless, when I’m awake or on a trip.”

The length of the Venice Grand Canal is 3800 m, the width is 30 - 70 m, and the depth is about 5 m

“How do the local police or tax authorities relate to the fact that you drive tourists?” I translate the conversation on a topic that interests me. But Katya is not lost: even before moving to Italy, she prepared all the documents that could be useful to her in a new place of residence, learned the specifics of the industry regulation, received the qualifications and license of a tourist guide-guide for Venice, registered as an entrepreneur. Thus, everything is legal.

Guided tours of Venice

I used to go to Venice three times, and this is the fourth trip. Even for the first time, having spent a week here, I climbed with a guide all possible nooks and crannies. Later, coming back here again, I tried not to repeat myself and to open new places, so I came prepared to meet with Katya.

As it turned out, I was not the only one prepared. Learning that this is not my first trip, my Venice guide she asked herself if I saw how the famous Murano glass is produced. And when I replied no, I proposed to go to the islands of the Laguna of Burano and Murano together.

Murano Island gained world fame for its glass production

Katya's erudition knows no limits. At least as far as Venice is concerned. I don’t know if she is a twin by horoscope, but she can spend hours talking about Venice without ever repeating herself. In these 3 hours we spent together, I learned more about the city than in the 3 previous trips combined.

Katya explains this by saying that Venice is her passion, her love: “It's just something alive, not a city in the usual sense,” she says, “and my whole house is busy with literature on its history in Italian, Russian and English "I gathered a lot of things that could be collected, and there are hardly any guides who have the same large library specifically in Venice. But this process has no end and edge, so the meeting will expand."

Listening to her, you can not argue with that. After visiting Murano, I had a feeling that at leisure Katya worked as a glassblower ... As it turned out, she didn’t work :). But Murano and Burano are exotic.

Murano glass recognized worldwide as an elite product

More often, travelers are interested in more traditional routes, but all kinds of things happen: "I am approached both by those who arrived in the city for the first time, and tourists who have previously been to Venice. Inquiries come in a variety of ways: from organizing a sightseeing tour for the first acquaintance with the city to more unusual - some special places, boat trips, islands, etc. "

Katie has about 10 of the most varied excursions in her arsenal, and with each new treatment she will definitely clarify whether there are any special preferences and interests. This allows her to choose and offer travelers exactly the route that is most suitable for them. If necessary, Katya travels as a guide to neighboring cities of Venice. According to her, there is also something to see there.

Venice guide: how to contact Katya

Saying goodbye to Katya, I caught myself thinking that I was very glad to meet you, and the trip was not in vain. Pleasant girl, interesting person and no less fascinating Venice guide, which always has something to show in her favorite city.

As with other guides, I ask Katya to send me a description of her routes, and as soon as they arrive, I will try to supplement them with an article.

You can always contact Katya, clarify her schedule and the possibility of conducting a tour by e-mail email protected or by writing through the feedback form below. I am sure that the answer will come very quickly. Just keep in mind that I managed to snatch Katya the day before arriving in Venice, largely thanks to a trip in November. When contacting other months, Katya recommends writing in advance - on the eve of the season peaks, she receives many calls, and many dates can be booked.

Have a good trip and interesting excursions!

My husband and I were in Venice in July 2019 for the first time and literally two days and we were very lucky that we chose the guide Catherine for an individual tour. She made our trip to Venice unforgettable!
Catherine is a very sensitive, attentive, kind and helpful person! Taking into account that during our stay there was intense heat and high humidity, from the very beginning, having talked with us before the start of the tour, she clarified our well-being and, warning us about the heat, chose a low rate of movement. Every time she suggested that we quench our thirst and wash ourselves in fountains. On the content itself, everything was very interesting and exciting.
When, after lunch and the first half of the excursion, I felt a little uneasy during the second excursion at the Doge's Palace, Catherine quickly found me a cool place and ice to recover. Unfortunately, we had to end the excursion at the end due to my poor health, and to my shame, Catherine did not charge for the second excursion.
We traveled around Europe and booked other individual excursions more than once, but Catherine made the best unforgettable impression on us. We are very grateful to you, Ekaterina, for those places and secrets that you shared with us!

Many thanks to Catherine for a tour of Venice and Murano Island.
We received a lot of information both about Venice itself and about the island of glass blowers, and even the experience of making real Murano glass at one of the factories. Our son was delighted. And all this in a very short time, since we were limited to only a few hours in Venice. Katya instructed us in advance, as well as told details about the use of water transport in Venice.
Catherine instantly answered all my questions online and planning a stay on the island on the water was easy.
And also, Catherine is a charming and charismatic girl, who cares what impressions “regular tourists” will have about the island she knows and loves. Thanks again, Katya! We will definitely be back. Rating 5!

I would like to start this review with the words of sincere gratitude to Catherine for an amazing tour of Venice and the attention shown to my family. Already at the stage of preparing for the trip and choosing a route around Venice, Catherine answered all the questions that arose at that time and agreed on a convenient place and time for the meeting. The excursion itself, and its route ran, including through the islands of Murano and Burano, is so fascinating and interesting that several hours flew by as if in an instant. It should not be noted that the Venetians, "closed" people, not only know Catherine as a guide, but trust her as a person, gladly opening the doors of their houses in front of her. My family (5 people) had the fondest memories. Hope to meet in the future!
Thank you, Ekaterina! Score 5 with a plus.

My husband and I travel a lot, and each time, preparing for the next trip abroad, I carefully work out the program, book tours in advance, buy tickets to museums, etc. When we planned a trip to Italy, and in particular to Venice in May, I went to this site, and although I had looked at many good reviews about other Russian-speaking guides before, I immediately intuitively chose Katerina. And I was not mistaken! First of all, she immediately responded and subsequently quickly responded to our questions, suggestions regarding the organization of the excursion. At the meeting, Katya told us so much interesting and useful about the history of Italy and Venice that she significantly enriched our knowledge in this area and made us even more fond of this fabulous city. Katyusha is a very competent, erudite historian, with a wonderful literary speech, an emotional, friendly, sociable, nice person with whom 3 hours of excursion flew by in an instant! We very regretted that the limited time spent in Venice and Catherine's busy schedule did not allow us to spend any additional time with her. We highly recommend everyone to find the opportunity to get acquainted with Italy with Katina's help! And Katyusha wish further great success in life!

At the end of March 2017 our group (4 adults and 4 teenagers) traveled independently in Italy, choosing guides on the Internet. In Venice, we decided to take advantage of the offer of Katerina. She responded very quickly to our requests, was ready to adapt to the schedule of our group, made an excursion, including all our wishes: an overview of Venice, a visit to the islands of Murano and Burano.
Now with full confidence we want to recommend this specialist to tourists, for whom it is interesting to hear about the historical heritage of Venice from the mouth of a guide in love with the city.
And we express gratitude to Katerina for organizing the excursion, a competent selection of interesting places of visits, and the ability to enthusiastically express historical material that arouses interest in both teenage and adult audiences.
Sincerely, the group from Novosibirsk.

I love traveling very much on non-tourist routes! Having met Katya, we agreed on a meeting. Katya is a very pretty and pleasant girl, fascinated us with walks (along the non-tourist streets of Venice) and interesting stories so that 4 hours passed like an instant! And although we were a child of seven, we were not even a bit tired. They concluded for themselves that it is impossible to know Venice in such a short period of time! Be sure to come again and turn to Katya. It was very interesting, Katya thank you very much!

I do not often write reviews, but I wanted to write about Katya right away.
The trip to Venice was spontaneous, not planned, so we did not have time to thoroughly prepare for it. Scrolling through various online guides to Venice, I stumbled upon this article and decided to contact Katya. Despite the fact that we arrived in Venice in August (so to speak, in a tourist peak), we managed to find free time at Katya. Up to this point, we have never met such a guide as Katya. For 3 hours, we managed to plunge into different eras, from the moment of resettlement and the birth of Venice to modern Venice. Katya - Guide with a capital letter. Such a dedication of the guide will justify every euro cent spent. I am very grateful to Katya for such an interesting, exciting tour.

If you want to see Venice not only and not so much tourist, then you should go to Katya.
We ourselves were in Venice for the first time, booked a trip in advance (back in May), started looking for someone who would be able to conduct an individual excursion, and from a variety of offers, probably by chance, chose this. They wrote off ... What a pleasant surprise, the answer was prompt and comprehensive. Before the trip, the volume and time of the tour were specified.
Themselves always preferred individual excursions, it is certainly more expensive, BUT BUT and impressions only YOURS.
Katya, a sweet, pleasant girl, which is especially important in love with Venice, showed us the city-country of VENICE not only as a guide, but as a person admiring her, so to speak from the inside. And what is especially important in such excursions was absolutely no hidden advertising of any kind of additional services. We did not regret either the time spent or the money spent.
THANKS, KATE!

My husband and I were in Venice for the first time, celebrated the wedding anniversary.
Katya was contacted from Moscow and even here I received quick and clear answers to all my many questions. Katya advised a convenient time for a tour taking into account the weather, etc. We added a boat trip to the ground part, which really added to the walk around the city.
We lived in Judecca and reached the city by shuttle. Already in Venice, they realized that the time that we had planned with Katya did not quite fit in with the shuttle schedule, on the eve of the excursion they called Katya and coordinated the time without any problems.
The excursion itself was wonderful, taking into account our wishes and interests. Very rich and professional.
Katya ordered a table (the best) in the restaurant for our holiday and organized a surprise for me at the request of her husband.
Katyusha, thank you BIG BIG for everything !!!
